This writer is passionate about travelling, family, photography, cruising down the river in Borneo, driving through the Ardeche Gorges in France, or just biking along the Stanley Park  sea wall  in Vancouver, or Crescent Beach in South Surrey. And, let’s not forget lunching with friends at…well…any interesting restaurant anywhere!

It’s been my privilege to wander the world with my Scottish writer/sailor parents as a child, and with friends in newspaper and airline work as an adult.

My only regret is that I did not insist on taking my three children to places I would love to have shared with them. However, they have inherited my travel bug.  As result, they have covered England, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Cuba, Alaska, Mexico, Alberta, British Columbia and, most recently, Jamaica, on their own. Perhaps I should save my sympathy! Keep it up kids! I just love ya!

My other passions are for travel history (I mean digging into the history of countries and cities), jazz, dancing, rail journeys, interesting food and wine, leaving on a jet plane, kids and dogs, detective novels (as well as some travel books) and – well – life in general, It really is a great life – if you don’t weaken!

As a journalist/photographer by trade, it is is my goal to carry on writing professionally and supporting organisations I volunteer with, such as the enormously successful  Surrey International Writers’ Conference currently under the able co-ordination of  our delightul British Columbia author, kc Dyer .
